The Witness focuses on the human stories behind The Evidence, which underpins international efforts to seek justice at global tribunals for the war crimes committed by the Netanyahu administration in Gaza — in what is increasingly recognized as genocide.

The testimonies of Gazans — relentlessly bombarded and deliberately targeted in every place of refuge, from hospitals and aid convoys to refugee camps and border crossings, and condemned to mass starvation — lay bare the criminal record of the Netanyahu government.

Primarily composed of accounts from Palestinian and Turkish journalists, and supplemented by testimonies from Gazans themselves to the extent possible under wartime conditions, The Witness also frames a portrait of moral complicity and shame on the part of those turned a blind eye instead of trying to stop it— or worse, provided it with political cover.

The crimes against the people of Gaza were brought to international attention through the dedication and bravery of journalists — most notably correspondents from Anadolu Ajansı — who risked their lives to fulfill their professional duty. It was through their firsthand reporting, guided by a deep sense of responsibility, that the world became aware of the scale and severity of the tragedy unfolding in Gaza, where the deadliest assault on journalists in modern history is still ongoing.

These selfless efforts also produced decisive evidence that enabled the identification of these crimes and their submission to the relevant international judicial authorities.

At the heart of The Witness are the witnesses themselves — the courageous individuals who, despite the life-threatening conditions, continued to document the war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
