AA Brifing

September 2026

200

The September issue of Anadolu Ajansı’s monthly magazine AA Brifing is now available.

Covering major developments on the global agenda with a field-based, data-driven, and analytical approach, the new issue features two major dossiers: the “Terror-Free Türkiye” process and the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement.

Bringing together expert analysis, special reports, original commentary, and strong infographics across foreign policy, security, economics, technology, and social transformation, AA Brifing helps readers make sense of complex global developments through an accessible, comprehensive, and multidimensional lens.

With every issue, the magazine seeks to serve as a trusted reference for decision-makers, academics, researchers, media professionals, and readers who closely follow global change. Rather than simply reporting what is on the agenda, it examines the background, implications, and possible future scenarios behind key developments.

The September cover dossier takes a closer look at the new stage reached in the Terror-Free Türkiye process. It examines the process in its regional context, explores how it is being received in Iran, Iraq, and Syria, and assesses how it can be safeguarded against potential risks. Leading experts and contributors — including Prof. Talha Köse, President of the National Intelligence Academy; political scientist Dr. Murat Yılmaz; international relations expert Dr. Şaho Karadaği; and Prof. Hüseyin Alptekin of the National Defense University — evaluate the process from different perspectives.

Another major dossier in the issue focuses on the possible impact of the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement on the regional security architecture. Prof. Murat Yeşiltaş, a faculty member at the Social Sciences University of Ankara and Director of Foreign Policy Studies at SETA; Prof. Khaled Mohammed Batarfi; and researcher Nebahat Tanrıverdi Yaşar examine the nature of the agreement, its implications for regional security balances, and its possible repercussions across different geographies.

The issue also looks at a wide range of current developments, including the international coalition formed in the Red Sea with Türkiye’s participation; the state-society dynamics that may shape Iran’s future; and China’s expanding maritime reach through shadow fleets. Türkiye’s central role in global transport corridors and its search for multilayered connectivity, shifting dynamics in regional energy geopolitics, the security architecture expected to emerge in Lebanon after UNIFIL, the United Nations’ latest initiatives on Cyprus, and the geopolitical effects of growing water fragility are also explored through in-depth analysis.

Also featured is a noteworthy article on addiction by Professor of Psychiatry Kemal Sayar and Clinical Psychologist Emre Yılmaz. The September issue ranges widely — from the latest developments in artificial intelligence to the mechanics of card payment systems, from invasive species in the Mediterranean to the effects of drought on Europe’s rivers and economy. It also examines the changing relationship between festivals, cultural politics, and geopolitics, as well as the Artemis Accords and the new power struggles taking shape in space.

With its September issue, AA Brifing offers a rich, multilayered reading experience for those who want not only to follow current events, but to understand their background, causes, consequences, and possible implications for the future.
