Founded on the instructions of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk during the critical days of the War of Independence, Anadolu Ajansı (AA) was created both to counter enemy propaganda with accurate reporting and to convey the Turkish nation’s struggle for survival to the world. In 2020, AA marked its centennial.

As a pioneering institution in Turkish media and a global brand, AA looks to the future with confidence, pursuing ever-greater goals while upholding its commitment to responsible, objective, reliable, and swift journalism—and continuing to stand as a milestone in the history of the press.

In 2020, AA once again chronicled the major events and developments in Türkiye and around the world for posterity. The global COVID-19 pandemic continued to be a difficult and painful ordeal for humanity. This almanac highlights Türkiye’s exemplary response to the pandemic, along with other significant national and international developments, presented in all their dimensions.
