Gaza, A Chronicle of War and Hope

Mustafa Hassona

900

Gaza, A Chronicle of War and Hope is a powerful photographic chronicle by Anadolu Ajansı (AA) photojournalist Mustafa Hassona, capturing the unfolding human tragedy in Gaza.

Since October 7, 2023—when the war began and grew into one of the most devastating in modern history—tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians have been killed, entire cities have been erased, and hope has dimmed with each passing day.

Across Gaza, hospitals were reduced to rubble—and with them, homes, streets, schools, and countless lives were shattered. Tens of thousands of women and children were killed, and hundreds of thousands more were wounded or forced from their homes. Every frame tells a story not only of the Palestinian people but also of Hassona’s own children—living through the same darkness, pain, and loss his lens reveals.

Taken during days when death was ever-present and the sound of bombs never ceased, these photographs lay bare the horror of war and the moments when human dignity was pushed to its limits. They tell the story of a people who continue to endure amid ruin, fear, hunger, and despair.

Built upon the testimony of a photojournalist who has worked in Gaza for nearly two decades, Gaza, A Chronicle of War and Hope stands as both a documentary record and a moral call that must never fade from the memory of humankind. Within its pages are photographs that speak with a power beyond words—depicting daily life in Gaza and the unyielding spirit of hope that endures even amid unimaginable loss.
