From the very first day, Anadolu Ajansı (AA) closely monitored the coup trials held across Türkiye following the failed coup attempt of July 15, 2016. Every stage of the legal proceedings was documented in detail to ensure that accurate information reached all segments of society.

With the aim of offering a resource for legal professionals, AA published July 15 Coup Trials as a comprehensive, commentary-free account. The book draws directly from indictments filed against the coup plotters, statements reflecting both confessions and denials, and the final verdicts issued by independent Turkish courts.

Divided into four sections, the book first details the structure and formation of the terrorist organization responsible for the coup attempt, based on indictments prepared by the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Offices in Ankara and Istanbul, as well as information contained in various reasoned verdicts.

The second section provides an in-depth look at key legal cases, including the General Staff Headquarters Case, the Akıncı Air Base Case—where the coup attempt was coordinated—the Main Coup Trial in Istanbul, and the Muğla trial over the attempted assassination of President Erdoğan. These trials are presented objectively, drawing solely on the contents of indictments and courtroom testimonies. With the exception of the Akıncı Air Base Case, which was still ongoing at the time of publication, the book includes summaries of all final rulings. This section also offers factual summaries of other related trials held throughout Türkiye.
The third section presents detailed profiles of leading figures in the attempted coup—including members of the so-called “Peace at Home Council”—based on judicial documents and official testimonies.

The final section features legal analyses and commentaries by prominent jurists on the broader legal implications of the coup trials.
