While continuing to function as the institutional memory of journalism, this almanac also embraces the requirements of the digital age by offering readers faster and more comprehensive access through QR code integration.

The year 2025 will be remembered as one that left an indelible mark on world history. Among its most painful events was the genocide that the Netanyahu government continued to carry out in Gaza. Anadolu documented this genocide in all its dimensions and conveyed its findings to the international public. Through the dedicated efforts of our correspondents on the ground, our books The Evidence, The Witness, and The Perpetrator have become key reference works documenting Israel’s war crimes before the International Criminal Court. The photograph held up at the rostrum by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his address to the United Nations General Assembly to illustrate the hunger in Gaza was captured by one of Anadolu correspondents on the ground. As a symbol of historical testimony, this image was selected as the cover photograph of the 2025 Almanac.

Another significant development in the Middle East was the return of the Syrian file to the forefront, as new dynamics emerged that paved the way for the collapse of the Baath regime under Assad, following a period of relative calm since 2020. Anadolu closely followed Syria’s reconstruction process both on the ground and at the diplomatic level, with international media outlets relying on Anadolu’s reporting during the most critical stages of this process.

In other parts of the world, 2025 was marked by a rise in natural disasters, including wildfires, earthquakes, and floods. The effects of the global climate crisis continued to severely disrupt not only nature but also the economic and social fabric of societies. Anadolu documented the consequences of these disasters while producing awareness-raising content grounded in a solutions-oriented approach to journalism.

At the same time, 2025 was a year in which rapid developments in artificial intelligence were closely monitored on a global scale, making the transformative impact of technology on media, the economy, and social life increasingly visible.
