As digitalization becomes increasingly widespread, news content is now accessed primarily through digital platforms. These platforms tend to dominate the market, collect the advertising revenue generated by media outlets, and erode the control content creators have over their own work. This shift has introduced new competitive pressures and raised major concerns—particularly around the unauthorized commercial use of journalists’ hard-earned material.

Anadolu Ajansı (AA), Türkiye’s oldest news organization, has taken a proactive stance in addressing the challenges digitalization poses for press publishers. These extensive efforts culminated in Copyright in News, a comprehensive report now published in book form.

This publication offers press publishers a roadmap for claiming fair compensation for their news content, while seeking solutions to the increasingly complex copyright challenges of the digital age. It also lays the groundwork for potential future reforms in Türkiye, contributing to the development of a fair and balanced media ecosystem.
